Murphy and my cousin Kyle

Hello All!

First off, this update is massive when it comes to graphics, so I've chopped it into a few separate pages. Just follow the links at the bottom of the page.

So I think that Murphy's newsletter is going to have to be a quarterly, I just don't routinely have the 3 or 4 hours it takes to write up each update. So, to all of you who I love having as visitors here, please stop harassing me for updates and photos! And keep in mind, the whole reason I'm here at school is to have the means to provide Murphy with the pampered lifestyle he aspires to.

So, we have a whole bunch of pictures to post, both Christmas and non-Christmas. My non-Christmas pictures are lost in Shaw e-mail limbo, so we'll start with Christmas. The above photo is of Murphy kissing my cousin Kyle on Christmas day. Here's another one:

Kyle's entire family thinks my family is insane, what with me being a vegetarian and my sister marrying an American. The fact that I treat Murphy like a toddler doesn't compute for them. They just don't understand that it's *fun* to spoil dogs, take them to brunch, buy them backpacks, etc. I say if you have a dog you have to have a sense of humour! At any rate, my cousins do humour me pretty well. And since I'm 7 years Kyle's senior, he can be harassed into letting my dog kiss him.

Here's Aaron, Kyle's older brother, on Christmas day:

Yes, that would be him serving my dog alcohol. This is what Christmas dinner is like at my house. Oh, and see how he's on the phone? He was talking to his friends trying to figure out where they were going to party that night, on Christmas day!

Well, after the preceding paragraphs I'm going to have to pray that they have a sense of humour about all this if they were ever to hear about this website. As you can imagine, I don't go spreading word of this website around to my extended family as they find us strange enough without this icing on the cake!

But I'm getting ahead of myself. We should go back to when we arrived back in Vancouver. Of course, one of our first stops was Three Dog Bakery, where we bought:

...a snowman mini cake and a stocking cookie. Murphy had to wait 'til Christmas for those. Actually, he didn't even get the snowman 'til New Years Eve. I'm a monster in Murphy's eyes, making him wait 2 weeks to snarf down a mini-cake.

Murph and I did a lot of just hanging out before Christmas, which was just what I'd needed after such a whirlwind semester at school. Here we have Murphy hanging out in front of the tv:

We had so much time, it was sooo very relaxing! We went for walks in the park, played on the deck, and slept in every day. I don't know what's gotten into him, but all of a sudden Murphy likes sleeping in. 'Til like 2pm!

On to Christmas Eve, when Murphy got to open one gift early:

...a stuffed horse. Well, I'm not sure that it's a horse, but that's the closest thing in nature to which it resembles. I gave him this toy on Christmas Eve because he'd found it 4 times already anyway, so the surprise was ruined. He managed to sneak into my closet, squeeze his head into my suitcase which was zipped closed on two out of three sides, root around, find this toy, and pull it out. He came slinking out of my bedroom (we were still in Kamloops when his near daily hunt for Christmas toys started), wagging his tail slowly, mocking me with this toy between his teeth. I laughed my ass off and put it back. He knew it was in the closet, and took any opportunity he could to get back in there and snatch it. It became entertaining, waiting to see how far he'd go to get his paws on this "horse".

As always, the tree was a source of intrigue for Murph. Here we have two photos of him exploring the tree. The first shows sort of how it really appeared, how dark the room was. The second was taken with the flash, to show what Murphy was up to:

Ok, I think now we can move on to Christmas day. Let's go to Christmas morning!
Or skip by Christmas morning and go straight to dinnertime
