Hello All!

Murphy with ears swingingMy birthday was yesterday, and I had the good fortune to be given a digital camera! Can you wrap your mind around how many more pictures, and in turn updates, that this will result in?

Unfortunately I still have half a conventional roll of film left in my conventional camera, so I'll have to get to those sometime soon, after which I'll be able to permanently switch over to digital. But, for now, here are some of the first photos I took with my new camera.

Above, quite simply,is Murphy with his ears swinging.Nothing more needs to be said.

Then we have Murphy's eyelashes from two different points of view. These are the subject of a lot of the compliments he receives.

Murphy asking for a scratchHere we have Murphy asking for a scratch. He just turns around, and then backs up by scooting backwards into you, sometimes wedging himself in between your legs...anything to get close enough for a scratch. This view is actually how I see Murphy a lot of the time.

Murphy in his scratching spotThis is his other favourite way to be scratched. He sits down next to the chair, and casually looks over his shoulder at you like; "C'mon, aren't you going to endulge me?".

We usually do.

Murphy, after an hour...or maybe longer...of pictures, grew tired of posing. So he went and relaxed on the kitchen floor, casually lying next to his bowl just in case I decided to feed him a little early.

He often barks at the other cocker in the sliding glass door. We keep telling him it's his reflection but Murphy is clinging to the hope that another cocker lives on our deck.

So here we have Murphy relaxing after the draining photo session, at first lounging...

...then nodding off. Such a cute, sleepy fellow.

Murphy on our way to daycareI gave Murphy a break after that, so we pick up again this morning, on our way to daycare.

Here's Murph patiently sitting in the backseat. I get him all excited when we're leaving the house, rambling away about "daycare" and "Eli", so it's hard for him to relax and snooze on our way. All my fault.

Anyway, he's a pretty good guy about riding in the car, only occasionally whining about being stuck in the back seat while I'm up in the front. I appreciate it when he sits up, as opposed to lying down out of sight, so that other drivers don't think I'm yammering away at an imaginary passenger. Though, most would think me strange to be holding a prolonged conversation with a dog, so I guess it's a moot point. He's nice and quiet til we reach the train tracks that mark our entry, in Murphy's mind, to the "Daycare Zone", at which point he loses it.

So here we are at Dog Days Daycare. The woman on the far side of the fence is Lisa, who owns the place. Note the two wading pools on the right hand side of the picture. On warmer days those are out and filled up for the dogs to play in. This is just the front yard; behind the big white garage door is the inside portion of the daycare, which I would say is about twice as large as this front yard.

So I think that's it for now! Murphy and I have been up to quite a bit these days, including returning to obedience classes, because he'd been pushing his luck at home, exploring Pacific Spirit Park with Terry, heading to Three Dog Bakery for more treats, and working on walking on leash without pulling. He's making lots of progress with that last one, and is having tons of fun at obedience. I think I'm going to sign us up for the next round of advanced beginners obedience, which hopefully won't conflict with our next round of agility.

Check back soon, there's sure to be lots more coming, thanks to the new camera!
